We stopped at an inn near the Spitzkoppe Mountains in Namibia, and after an early morning hike, we returned to find the place crawling in these little beasties. They're called armored katydids (Acanthoplus discoidalis) or koringkrieke. They will bite you if you try to pick them up, but only after squirting blood you. On this particular morning they were crawling all over the place.

I'm a photographic artist based near Nashville, Tennessee. I love to travel and have been from border to border and coast to coast all across the United States. And everywhere I go, I take my camera and try to capture the many beautiful sights my home country has to offer.
