I had gone to the Okefenokee Swamp hoping to see a lot of alligators and I wasn't disappointed. I hired a guide to take me into the heart of the swamp by boat so I could focus on making photos. My guide was really good; he was able to point out a lot of wildlife that I wouldn't have noticed otherwise. It turned out that a lot of what I thought were logs, were in fact alligators and vice versa.

It was a great trip and well worth the cost of hiring a guide. Unfortunately, when we got into the prairie part of the swamp, an approaching tropical storm decided to unload on us and we scrambled to put up the canopy on the small boat as the rain soon became a downpour. It didn't show any sign of letting up so we started heading back. I ended up getting pretty well soaked, but my camera gear survived and I got plenty of the alligator shots I was after including this one.

I'm a photographic artist based near Nashville, Tennessee. I love to travel and have been from border to border and coast to coast all across the United States. And everywhere I go, I take my camera and try to capture the many beautiful sights my home country has to offer.
