Description
The desiccated camel thorn trees at Dead Vlei are scattered around a salt pan about the size of two football fields. The salt pan is surrounded by sand dunes on all sides, the dunes on one side being among the highest in the world. This destination was why I went to Namibia.
From the moment I arrived on the salt pan, I was torn between standing there, gawking at the desolate beauty all around, and trying to capture as many photos as I could. With the sun rising over the dunes, you have to scramble to take advantage of the constantly changing lighting.
Our time here in the morning was all to brief, but if I have my way, I'll be back again.
