Early morning at Mount Rushmore National Memorial is a magical time. There are no crowds, it's quiet and peaceful, and the light can be extraordinary if the weather cooperates. This was such a morning. As I stood there at the top of the amphitheater making this image, I marveled at the planning and work that went into creating this grand symbol of America. It's definitely worth getting up early for if you make it up this way.

I'm a photographic artist based near Nashville, Tennessee. I love to travel and have been from border to border and coast to coast all across the United States. And everywhere I go, I take my camera and try to capture the many beautiful sights my home country has to offer.
