Artist's Description

I was back at Death Valley for the umpteenth time and had driven up to Zabriskie Point for sunrise. I tried something different this time and set off to the right of the normal viewpoint to try and get a shot from a different angle. After scrambling up a narrow hillside path and setting up for the view I had planned to shoot, I turned around as the sun was beginning to light up the sky and saw this view developing in the other direction. I quickly repositioned my tripod and took this exposure before the light changed and was pleased with the result.
