Artist's Description
I was driving across country in the middle of summer following old Route 66 when I stopped for the evening in Kingman, Arizona. After checking into a hotel, I went out looking for dinner (as always, carrying my camera gear with me). As the sun started to set I noticed it starting to light up this amazing cloud formation to the south of town. I scrambled trying to find a location to shoot from that didn't have power lines in the way. I finally found a cul de sac near a new housing development that didn't have any buildings or power lines in the way. After trying several compositions looking for a good foreground, I realized that what had really captured my eye was the texture and color of the clouds themselves. So I zoomed in to capture just that in an abstract sort of composition.
