Artist's Description
I finally had the chance to visit the ancient bristlecone pine forest at Schulman Grove in the White Mountains of California. As I drove up from Bishop, I noticed the clouds forming around the mountain top. It was a sunny day where I started, but as I climbed the mountain, the clouds moved in and the temperature started dropping. Then the snow started.
I arrived at Schulman Grove and found the parking lot empty save one other car. The visitor center had a sign on the door saying they were closed because of the snow and advised everyone to get down off the mountain.
I had come to make photos, though, so I stayed for a while as the snow continued to fall and pile up. I ended up with a handful of photos that I liked, this being my favorite of the trip. It's a beautiful area and I hope to return and spend more time there in the future.
