Artist's Description
I had always wanted to see the Gateway Arch. As it turns out it's a lot bigger than I expected. In fact, it's the largest man-made monument in the Western Hemisphere (or so says Wikipedia). I just know it's damned impressive.
I arrived on a weekday afternoon so it wasn't too crowded. The weather was good -- sunny with nice puffy clouds in the sky. I spent my time wandering all over the park shooting the arch from every angle I could think of.
I also went across the river to view the arch from a special park created just for that purpose. That was when I realized that everything I had heard about East St. Louis was true.

I'm a photographic artist based near Nashville, Tennessee. I love to travel and have been from border to border and coast to coast all across the United States.
