Description
It was our first afternoon in Greenland. After stopping to visit Ittoqqortoormiit on the way in to the Scoresby Sund fjord complex, we returned to the ship to sail deeper inland. Scoresby Sund is huge and we were surrounded on all sides by massive icebergs, some of which made our expedition ship look tiny. There were postcard shots in all directions and the photographers on board were excitedly snapping away.
I stood on the port side of the ship intrigued by the multiple layers of ice that retreated into the distance, giving way eventually to the massive rock walls of Greenland itself. As I was standing there, I was struck by the way this one smaller iceberg came into view in the gap between two much larger icebergs. I was pleased with the resulting shot.
