One of the first things I noticed after we arrived at the Quivertree Rest Camp near Keetmanshoop, Namibia was the large fenced-in pen near the main building. There were a number of border collies outside the pen barking at something. I went over with my camera to investigate and was surprised to see two cheetahs inside hissing and snarling right back at the dogs. It turns out that the two cheetahs had been born and raised in captivity, which would otherwise be illegal in Namibia, but because these were the result of an accidental pregnancy rather than intentional breeding, it was allowed. The dogs finally backed off and the cheetahs calmed down and I took this portrait of the closest cheetah through the fence. The next day I would encounter the cheetahs a lot closer...

I'm a photographic artist based near Nashville, Tennessee. I love to travel and have been from border to border and coast to coast all across the United States. And everywhere I go, I take my camera and try to capture the many beautiful sights my home country has to offer.
